What was I thinking?

I ordered it from Dell earlier this week and it should be arriving before the end of next week. The main reason I ordered from Dell is that I wanted to pick and choose a high-end machine that would last me the next couple of years.

It has the standard Dell XPS options plus:

XPS Notebooks R540818AU - Dell XPS M1530 Laptop
 Base System -Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9500
                          -2.6GHz, 6MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB -
Operating System -Genuine Windows Vista(R) Ultimate 32 bit SP1 Edition (English)
-Genuine Windows Vista(R) Ultimate 32 bit SP1 (English) DVD Media Included
 Display -15.4" UltraSharp(TM) Widescreen WSXGA+ (1680x1050) TFT Display with TrueLife(TM)
Optional Color Kits -Tuxedo Black LCD display with Integrated 2.0 megapixel web cam
                          -Camera Bezel
                          -Camera Software
 Memory -4GB ( 2 X 2048MB ) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drives -200GB SATA 7200RPM Performance Hard Drive
Internal Optical Drive -Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Combination Drive with dual layer write capabilities
                          -Dell Burn Image
 Video Card -256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 8600M GT
 Wireless Network Card -Intel(R) 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini-Card

... As well as a 24" monitor for work and two power adapters (one for work one for home, makes travel easier). It will have the Windows partition shrunk from 200Gb to around 40Gb and will be dual-boot Ubuntu 8.04, with Ubuntu being the standard, Windows probably running through VirtualBox

I can't wait.

For me it is the only way to manage Eclipse installations.
