Java Notes From My Desktop

Since I have had my GMail account, I have noticed that some Emails have gone missing. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. I wrote the problem off as I might have deleted them myself or GMail is still beta.

Today, I went to delete my Sent Items, as I normally do about once a week. When I clicked Send To Trash this time I got a popup message saying that I was about to delete 11 entire conversations. What?

So I actually did delete those messages I thought I was missing. I just didn't realize it. I had probably replied to some of them and in emptying my Sent Items the entire conversation got deleted. I wonder if this is something that will change or if because of the way GMail threads their emails, it's just something we have to be cautious with. Oh well, at least I know what happened now.

gmail doesn't want you to delete any emails ... archive the ones you don't want to see if you inbox
just happened to me too. i clicked on YES and deleted 2600 conversations. my gmail account quota dropped from 90% to 20%, but all my important stuff went away... i was stupid enough to empty the trash too, which deleted my stuff forever. i was more stupid not to do a single backup to my email (using POP connection), or maybe i am stupid that i do not work with gmail through outlook. bottom line is: i am stupid. conclusion: do not delete from sent items. ever.
Earlier on I saw an e-mail notification from Gmail notifier. I was working on something else and I figured out I'd see it later. I checked for the e-mail both within the web interface and in MS Outlook (which I synchronize), and somehow the e-mail is not there. Fortunately, I could look up the information in the e-mail on ebay :), but, I wouldn't want this to happen on some important stuff, so I'm still concerned!
