While I haven't personally suffered much from Sun not fixing too many bugs in their JVM and libraries and ignoring clearly essential missing features for years and years, I can't resist the urge to post some of them out in the open again. Many have done so in the past and for a number of years, no less.

For example, this little feature request has been on the record since 8 years ago and will only be fixed once Mustang (Java 1.6) comes out although they did mark it closed/resolved already. This one has been waiting for 6 years and is scheduled for Java 7.0 so it'll probably be 2007 before it gets done. Unless they postpone it again, of course.

I don't mean to slash against Sun and cry foul but, seriously, is this the way Sun invests on the future of Java? Seriously? These things aren't exactly rocket science--just hard work. Now, the trick is of course that Sun isn't charging us a dime for using Java and it has certainly been an improvement over C++ and VB...
