So Apple today launched the 17-inch MacBook Pro as expected. No surprise there. Unfortunately, because the rumor has it that Apple will dump the 12-inch "pro" model for good. In other words, there will probably not be a 12-inch MacBook Pro. Well, we'll see how the 13-inch MacBook "student" will turn out. It's just that if Apple would've released a 12-inch laptop with a relatively high resolution, they'd have my money by now...

Concur, I need a new machine to replace my elderly 12" iBook (which I love), and I'm not going to by a big portable, I have an iMac for the big screen stuff. Apple PLEASE, ship a small professional machine for the serious business traveller, who really needs small size more than pixels or features ...
Does this mean I'm stuck with my 12" Powerbook .... forever?
It certainly seems like you're stuck at least until January when Apple might release some kind of ultra-portable. In the meantime, I've went for the 13-inch Macbook. It is bigger than 12-inch, but I've been happy with it so far.
