Quote of the day
New kinds of bad code

An excellent quote from a colleague:

I can freely admit to writing some quite bad code,
but I think that I have gained some useful insight from this,
and can now write new kinds of bad code.

Excellent.

Bas running a CSM course

I attended a CSM course run by Bas Vodde earlier this week. As some of you know, I've been a Certified Scrum Master since 2005 so why did I attend again?

No, not for the fancy license certificate you get for sitting in a classroom for two days. I already had that. I attended for the learning that's bound to happen when you interact with a room full of beginning Scrum Masters for two days--it helps me enourmosly in my work coaching Scrum teams as I gain more perspective on what kind of problems other teams are struggling with and what kind of misconceptions a beginning Scrum Master may have.

Plus, every Certified Scrum Trainer has his or her own way of teaching the course, meaning that Bas's course was in fact quite different from the one I had attended two years ago.

Altogether it was two days well spent. I learned a lot, both from Bas and from the other participants, and I can highly recommend attending Bas's CSM training. He's a superb Scrum trainer.
