I decided to change the title to the one you see now. It turns out that the previous title I used 'Why Me?' is a charity organization for Kids suffering from life threatening illness. And since my blog is not associated with that organization I decided to change it, respecting the organization and what it does.
If nothing else, atleast I shouldn't be diverting or mis-directing users to this meaningless blog. I do wish them well.
I was looking for some guidelines regarding blogging, needless to say I am new in this arena. Nothing really jumped at me but thought I will post these links from some of the famous names in the industry.
Legal stuff from Sixapart has some guidelines. I love these guys.
And then ofcourse, this entry from an IBM blogger.
Lastly, some Yahoo! related stuff guidelines.
The March 2005 issue of JDJ also has an article on Making PDFs Portable. That again was an interesting article. seems like there's an explosion of PdF support in Java lately. The iText, the FoP framework, now this framework called the PDFBox.
As the old saying goes - the more the merrier. :)
Again from the March 2005 publication of JDJ. Interesting read, although the source code was edited drastically.
I couldn't follow some of the sections but I enjoyed reading this article.
BTW, does anyone know if there's a way to get a hold of the source code? Is it 'download'able on the JDJ website somewhere?
I did send a note to the author if that's a possibility or not.......so I will wait.
Now that is an interesting article in JDJ, March 2005 publication. :)
Based on what is presented, Log4J scores huge points compared to JUL. One place I see applications using JUL is if companies do not want third party or open source dependencies added in their products. Trust me there are such products out there. So, don't brush aside JUL.
My two cents.......
Where is Elaine's friend John Paul?
Trinidad & Togoba (something like that).
Why did Elaine's friend John Paul miss the Olympics?
He over-slept. (Did not turn 'ON' the volume knob of his alarm. Why seperate knob, why?)
What's Starbucks symbol known as?
Seiren.
I have a huge backlog of TODO stuff and so I am slowly catching up on my reading - currently reading JDJ, March 2005 (Vol 10 Issue 3) edition.
Feature Article: Thinking Objects
I just don't get this article. :(
Ok, lawn moving, car purchase, corporate working (amazon.com ?) and conclusion.
The Conclusion reads:
OOP requires a aradigm shift from procedural thinking to inteaction thinking.
Division of labor pattern.... That is subclass'ing right? So what's new ?
Communication medium - Ok thats methods of a class.
Specialists - Yeah, that's the subclassing again.
IMO, what the article conveys is nothing new or drastically different than what has been published in the references that are mentioned in the article. Those conclusions are basically the backbone of OOP, the basics of objects.
So, here's my question to the JDJ editorial board (or fellow readers) Why did you publish this article?
When I read something, I like to learn something new. Sorry but that's just me mumbling my thoughts.......disappointed!
Is SA. Well, till today I did not know who made it to the finals. It was just by chance that I turned on the TV tonight. Well, now that I know who is in the finals, I am rooting for SanAntonio - Spurs. But then Larry Brown is also an excellent coach.
Just got word that one of my Aunt - Kasturi, passed away. Hmmmm....here I am 16000 air-miles away thinking about her at midnight. Life is soooooooooooo short and fragile folks!
Just the day before she was at my parents house taking part in a ceremony - talking to all the relatives gathered there. She goes home at night. Next day evening, she's gone forever. I just hope she had a good time meeting everyone, one last time.
She was one of those stalwarts that could pull everyone together. When there was a big occasion (good or bad) she was an encyclopedia for everything in life - from a new addition to a wedding to a funeral and everything in-between. She knew exacly what had to be done at what time and who should be involved. You see, Hindu culture has so many intricate features assimilated into day-to-day life that its difficult for folks like me to remember.
So, here's a little space on the www saying RIP. We will all miss you.
