[Music] Start wearing purple "I didn't know how decadent Russians could be until I saw Gogol Bordello" "Gogol Bordello" is a NYC musical band, "Ukrainian Gypsy Punk Cabaret", as they call themselves. Whether these are Ukrainian, or Russian, or Gipsy melodies the group performs with such a gaiety, they often sound familiar, prototypical (at the end of Start wearing purple there is a famous theme of "Fried Chicken" Start wearing purple wearing purple My attempt to translate the Russian part: And I swear, having pissed on two fingers, The last word that I lamely translated as "nowhere", is к ебеням in the original, and I have a confession to make. It is a word from the language that is called Russian mat, an obscene language that is used mostly by males. I had to use a "Russian-Russian" dictionary of mat to understand what it means! Literally, the dictionary said, it means "a very distant place", for example "we were lost and went to some ebenyam". Um, I mean literally it has something to do with sexual activity… But Russian mat deserve a separate post, and probably more than one.

I think the Russian lines are more like this:
"And I swear, having sucked two fingers,
that music comes from sounds of moo"
which I always took to just be a pun on "music" and "moo" because cows are inherently funny. I've never heard of the band.
Also, "k yeben'am" could maybe be most closely translated as "to fuck-all."

the song does not give me this "dizzyness" as you say. it makes me laugh and kind of makes me happy. it's weird how people can interpret it so differently. my friends and i all sing it together and dance. you should try it. it's fun.

I just love how its such a kick-ass rocking song. ^^ Gogol Bordello is now one of my favorite groups--though most of my friends aren't that thrilled. ^^; It rocks my moroccan socks! w00t take care and stuff!

i read the warped tour version of the song and the lyrics and meaning has changed drasticly, or you guys have no idea what your talkign about, but yea as for dizziness..not me at all it makes me happy as the shit to hear it...the first time i heard it was at the end of "everythings eluminated" and me and my girlfreind danced to it then rewound the movie to dance to it somore

Paspartu has two different meanings. One is a permanent pass to a theater. The other one is a frame or a mat for a picture. He admits that he's an old and useless clown but he takes notice of his knowledge of high class vocabulary and knowledge that he possesses. What an amazing song. I would love to drink brudershaft with this guy!
