Impeccable LanguageHat dug out etymology of the word "canola". Etymology of the word "canola" says that the word "canola" is derived from "Canadian oil." Therefore the expression "canola oil" means "Canadian oil oil." And I always thought "canola" is some kind of oily plant!

Canola oil is made from rapeseed. You can imagine a company not wanting to put the word "rapeseed" on its product
