June 23 I left JavaRanch, following Jim Yingst and Max Habibi. The place has changed, and I can't justify my presence there any more. I need to move this blog, so I am looking for what software/hosting is available. If you have any suggestions, please comment here or drop me a line at mapraputa and then usual gmail stuff. :)

Re: Unemployed sheriff is moving out of town
wordpress.com isn't bad. I use the wordpress software but I have my own server so I don't actually use wordpress.com but it looks pretty good.

I used Blogspot/Blogger for a while but since Google took it over its gotten worse, IMHO. Plus, I needed to be able to syntax highlight code and Blogspot doesnt have a good plugin architecture so adding stuff like that isn't easy, if even possible.
I've been using Pebble on my own hosting account and I just really like it. Wordpress is also good if you need a ton of customizations because they have a huge plugin base. Honestly, I write words on a web page. I don't need much to allow me to do that so my view is from a pretty simplistic perspective.

Good news: Ulf invited me to run a joined blog with him and Frank offered to host the whole endeavour. :) I've asked Ersin if he would like to join, and then we are set.
Gregg: "a ton of customizations" sounds like a lot of fun. :D
