This is the story of a fourth husband. He said he ran away at 14, made time in revival tents, money in radio.
Among his belongings, a senior high school yearbook, a photo captioned, "The boys clown around on stage."
They opened him 32 years later. Blood had exhausted on the mike as the on-air sign burned behind his ashen face. The body did not tolerate this entrance. The routes within it, they said, had overcooked and fell apart in their hands.
Like brick dust from a weary kiln, they carried him out, a pail at a time.
