There are very few books dedicated to the wonderful jQuery framework (about three as of today). According to past surveys made by ajaxian.com, jQuery is an increasingly popular JavaScript framework that grew from about 7% market shares in 2006 to a whopping 48% in 2007 just behing the unbeatable ones like Prototype and Script.aculo.us and taking the lead over the once-popular frameworks, such as Dojo, DWR and the like.

Manning's "jQuery in Action" is currently the most up-to-date book dealing with the latest 1.2 release of the jQuery framework. The authoring team has spent a great deal of time producing quality source code and setting up "lab pages" so that the readers can mess around with the examples explained in the book.

Even though some of you might think that I could be biased, I highly recommend this book to any novice or advanced JavaScript developers who finally want to get serious about JavaScript and start writing optimized and elegant code without all the hassle of traditional JavaScript code authoring.
